Scott Zack's Creek Equity Launches Michigan Succession Initiative to Acquire Founder-Owned Businesses as Owners Retire

Creek Equity, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Scott Zack's Bloomfield Hills investment company targets Michigan companies with $1 million to $10 million of EBITDA and keeps them locally owned

We want to be the call an owner makes three years before retirement, not three weeks.”

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Creek Equity, a private investment company that founds, funds, and acquires businesses with its own capital, today announced the Creek Equity Michigan Succession Initiative, a dedicated effort to acquire established founder-owned and family-owned Michigan companies whose owners plan to retire or step back over the next several years.

About 23 percent of Michigan business owners are 65 or older, and roughly half of businesses have no formal succession plan. The initiative gives those owners a buyer that intends to keep the company in Michigan, retain its employees and leadership, and hold it for the long term.

"When a plant closes, the whole state mobilizes. When a 40-person family company closes because the owner retired without a plan, almost nobody notices, and we lose those jobs just the same," said Scott Zack, owner of Creek Equity. "We want to be the call an owner makes three years before retirement, not three weeks."

What Creek Equity is looking for

- Established Michigan companies generating $1 million to $10 million of EBITDA
- Essential-service businesses with durable, recurring revenue across business services, logistics, the built environment, and consumer brands
- Founder-led or family-owned companies with a management team or a path to one
- Control positions as a rule, with flexibility for a meaningful minority stake where the owner wants a partner rather than a buyer

How it works

Owners, their advisers, and intermediaries can submit a short note about a company at creekequity.com/contact. Every submission is read, and the first conversation is with Scott Zack directly. Creek Equity has also published a free Succession Planning Guide for Michigan Business Owners at creekequity.com/succession-guide, fourteen articles covering how to prepare, value and sell a company, with a five-year checklist for owners at scottzackmi.com/succession-planning-guide.

Creek Equity invests its own capital rather than a fund with a fixed life, which allows it to hold companies for decades rather than a typical five-to-seven-year window. The company published its Investment Principles in October 2026, available at creekequity.com.
