Israel Reports Over Twenty Wounded in Iran’s Strikes

(MENAFN) On Sunday morning, ballistic missiles launched from Iran struck central and northern Israel, injuring 26 people—two of them seriously—according to Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom.

Israeli police confirmed that about 30 missiles were fired in two waves, directly hitting Tel Aviv and Ness Ziona in central Israel, as well as Haifa in the north. The attacks caused extensive damage to homes, roads, and vehicles.

This marked the first Iranian missile assault on Israel after nearly a 29-hour lull and followed the recent U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear sites.

Responding swiftly, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that their air force targeted and destroyed the Iranian missile launchers responsible for the attack.

Ahead of the missile strike and in response to the U.S. strikes, Israel shut down its airspace as a precaution, according to the Israel Airports Authority.

The IDF’s Home Front Command also imposed new emergency restrictions, banning schools, public gatherings, and workplaces except for critical sectors.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s close operational collaboration with the U.S. in executing the airstrikes against Iran.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed the missile launch, stating the attacks targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and a biological research center, among other sites.

In an official statement via Sepah News, the IRGC declared the start of its 20th wave of strikes against Israeli targets.

The IRGC described this new offensive as involving both long-range solid- and liquid-fueled missiles equipped with devastating warheads and employing advanced tactics designed to overcome Israel’s air defenses.

The strikes also aimed at backup military bases and various command and control centers.
This escalation follows Israel’s major airstrikes on June 13 against Iranian nuclear and military locations, which resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks, and by Saturday, Iran’s Health Ministry reported over 400 dead and 3,000 wounded on their side. Israeli authorities reported 24 civilian deaths due to Iranian missile strikes.
